Sponsor a rescued dog or cat

In our shelters in Romania we have a strict no-kill policy, and do everything we can to reach as many animals as possible and also rehome them in forever homes.

Sponsor a rescued dog or cat

We have developed a strong network of adopters across Europe as well as expertise in rehoming and training rescue dogs. For legal and logistics reasons, we can’t rehome our dogs as far as Australia but we can help animals in Australia.

Unfortunately, with many shelters being full all over Europe, adoptions are slow and animals spend longer time in our care. Plus, some animals are not suitable to be adopted (because of the size, medical condition, behavior issues etc) which means they will stay even longer or permanently with us.

When you sponsor a rescued dog from ROLDA, you enable us to cover the day-by-day costs and make sure all our furry friends have safety and comfort, free from loneliness and danger.

Senior dogs need

Senior dogs are more likely to need more regular health checks to ensure we are managing age-related health issues and capturing issues before they may become an issue.

It’s also really important that they are resting in a comfortable environment, with soft but supportive bedding as many dogs are prone to arthritis as they get older. Supporting their bones and joints keeps them mobile and active, which is crucial for their wellbeing.

It is not uncommon for dogs behaviours to change as they get older, as aches and pains start to kick in, this can hugely effect their mood and tolerance – much like us humans! We need to be pro-active in picking these changes up and getting them seen to as early as possible.

We may also look into changing a senior dogs diet, as their ability to absorb certain nutrients or calories may change. It’s important we are fueling them and giving them healthy options to remain as fit as can be.

ROLDA’s sanctuary for disabled and senior cats

Like stray dogs, homeless cats are exposed to car accidents, abuse, disease and hunger. Disabled cats live on people’s pity and are in constant danger of being killed or crippled for life by stray dogs. Senior cats struggle to eat and suffer chronic diseases which, left untreated, will only get worse.

ROLDA exists to come up with effective solutions for the most disadvantaged animals and considering the large number of cats in need, we decided now it’s the right time to build a sanctuary for disabled and senior cats that have no one else. With assistance from our supporters, we can help them live a decent and safe life, free of pain. Learn more about ROLDA sanctuary for cats.

The costs incurred to look after the dogs from both our sanctuaries are predictable which means after so many years of rescuing strays, we can accurately estimate the cost of caring for one dog under normal circumstances.

Food, bedding, vet checks and vaccination are the main costs we occur. This gift is ideal in particular for dogs who already reside in our shelters but due to behavioral issues, resulting from extreme abuse on the streets, are almost impossible to rehome. This is a real chance to change the life of a suffering animal. With your sponsorship, we can save another stray dog and get them off the streets of Romania for good!
